Hi guys,

I recently got one of the new still-in-the-grease Chinese military SKS carbines from Marstar. It came with no sling. Any idea where I could find a "correct" sling for the rifle? Online, or maybe a retailer in Lethbridge or Calgary?

primetime in Grande Prairie had a bunch of SKS kit seperate from their crates of Russians, not sure if you grabbed it with the rifle or if its for sale seperate though. I noticed that they dont list a sling with it, its wierd because the Factory 306 I bought off moving target came with a chinese SKS sling. Maybe Marstars new lot wasnt stored with slings? One of these will be my next purchase so I'll need a sling. Pm me if you want one too.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the fast responses ...

MosinNagant, I thought about Ebay ... but it's probably just some made-in-China sling.

Same with the SKS fellow in the U.S. ... plus the State Department probably bans the export of rifle-slings to Canada.

Supernova, (up in NW Alberta) ... I really appreciate the offer, but ... Canada Post's outrageous shipping costs for tiny stuff being sent just a few hundred kliks ... I don't wanna violate the awesome-value of this firearm.

If I can score that little sling in Lethbridge (100 miles away), the savings on the postage will probably pay for half-the-gas on my little car ... plus I can return to the mountains with a #5 Tops Pizza.

For my trouble ...

I'll just wait, and maybe send out nine agents/riders to search the land :)

If you were close by, I'd give you mine for free. Smells musty (like the rifle and the rest of the kit) and I don't think I'll be using it anyway. Just like that nasty oil bottle/canister. Shipping something that's worth very little defeats the purpose.

No problem

ST, I appreciate the good vibe but (as I said) it seems you and I are in agreement that Canada Post's shipping costs for tiny packages (compared to the USPS) are goofy.

(A fellow in Vancouver offered ... via a PM ... to mail me one as well, just for the cost of the shipping of about $12. He has an online store and I suggested that he include it with my next order in a couple of months ... when some now-out-of-stock stuff that I want will be available.)

I've already e-mailed a query to GI Jen's, a great little army surplus store in sunny Lethbridge AB. Awaiting a reply ...

Last time I was in Milarm/Edmonton, they has SKS kits for I think 25 bucks. Pouches, cleaning kits, slings and oilers.

Marstar sold-out ...

Actually, a sling was never mentioned in the on-line offer.

And I knew that.

The cryptic "Vinzer $6" reply was probably the most helpful. I just have to bundle a few more hard-to-get-in-SW-Alberta items into the package ... to kinda absorb CP's usurious tariff!
