Source for the Nylon 66 in Mohawk Brown?

Hi. The Nylon 66, discontinued in 1989, was .22 LR only with a tube or box mag. The 10C, discontinued in 1978, same thing really, had a box mag or a tube, but could shoot Shorts, Longs or Long Rifles.
It seems that people who own a Nylon don't want to part with 'em. They don't appear on retail used gun racks or a gun shows very often.
"...unique Nylon stock..." Structural Zytel-101 developed by Dupont specfically for Remington.
The 552 Viper was discontinued in 1998. Only made for 5 years. No production numbers on Remington's site.

66 was tube fed. 77 was the mag fed semi auto version. The 10C was the same as a 77, but built specifically for dept store sales (Sears, Walmart, etc). I have both a 77 and a 10C, bought them for my kids. They are very light, makes them easier for the kids to tote. I've used them both on gophers a few times too though. Good guns, just be careful disassembling them, easy to lose bits. - dan

I just got my Mohawk brown 66 yesterday and it clearly says .22lr only on the barrel, I haven't tried shorts but now I'm doubtful thy will cycle.

where did you get that idea?- only the gallery special is DESIGNED to shoot shorts, and if you look at the parts list, you'll see that it has a special barrel and spring - ie it's BALANCED for shorts- the only reason some 22's shoot all three is they use long rifle chambers and springs that accomodate the low power of the short round and make the bullet jump the rest of the chamber- not only that, but the gallery model also has a special sling stud to allow you to chain it to the table( or at least they did have) and a shell deflector ( on some models) so that you could shoot a line without livening up the guy next to you with hot brass

I had one as a kid nylon 66 mohawk. It was a great rifle to learn with. And regardless of the 22 LR on the barrel it took anything I fed it and was happy to keep killing ground hogs on all of my neighbour's farms.

As an adult I have owned a 76 lever action, several 66s, a couple of 10cs. I have yet to find one I like as much as the one I had as a kid.

Currently I am looking again. They come in waves. Currently there aren't many available.

If you try shorts, it will chamber them if you load them in the mag tube one at a time, or stick one directly in the chamber, a hard thing to do when you have to hold the bolt open and have stubby fat fingers :) If you load 2 or more in the tube, it will try to load 2 at once.
