Source of lead for casting bullets

Not sure if it is possible or not but does anyone salvage the lead from car batteries for casing bullets?

possible, yes. practical or safe for the bullet caster, no! way to many deadly gasses etc that get released for the tiny amount of lead you get from it. proper battery recyclers have proper equipment to do it right.

Tried it one afternoon when I was bored, and NOT worth the time.It took me a good 2 hour's to melt a battery, time I could have used to melt WW.

I just got into casting and scored enough WW to smelt 1600 pounds of lead muffins. I plan to treat that like I have none and keep up the WW hunt. I paid average around .20/pound for the buckets of WW. Another source is from your dentist. Watched a YouTube video apparently the back of the little slides for dental X-rays are pure lead.
