Anyone have any specific leads/contacts in the edmonton area to obtain lead for casting?

I hope you have better luck there than I did in the Vancouver area. Drove around for a couple of weeks, went to all different sizes of tire stores and shops and only managed one 1/2 pail of wheel weights which were 60 % steel and zinc, so a big waste of time. Guys in Ontario seem too be doing much better. Around me, all the tire shops have contracts with scrap yards, even though they have no idea what they are getting per lb. Stores like Walmart send back to there suppliers, same as Costco and the such. I thought the hunt for lead would be fun, it sure as hell was not. All you can do, is exactly what I did, drive around and see if you can get anything and then see if it's worth your while. If you want to just buy lead, at present the price is around $1.00 per lb. for pure lead and up depending on the alloy. Good Luck !

My perspective is its seasonal, people are lazy, me included winter tires who needs em, but that first big snow fall and AHHH S***. Everyone at once is changing tires. So 4 weeks later there is pale full out there. As well the tire change season has cooled down the shops are not go go go. As well sometimes it works to go during the week because every yah who, is changing tires on the weekend. Lastly make a list look up all the phone number of every shop in the city and phone them all, be pushy what is the worst they tell you to F*** off, so don't buy tires there. Usually I wait for the that sweet time of year, I as well started in what I call the off season, I paid $35 for a third of a pale just to start, live and learn. but its kind of like hunting rights more doors you knock on, the more critters that go down. I now have around 100, 5 gallon pales full and I wont pay more then $25 a pale, but I only do it once a year now.

There is a tire shop on 82 Ave, just east of where Sherwood Park Freeway splits off. You know, where the stop light with the Burger Baron is.

It's been 5 years since I was in there, but this shop has always seen financial potential in scrap WW and saves them all, and sells them. I paid $40 for a 20l pail of them when that price was unheard of. I felt ripped off, but it was my first bucket of lead, and it got me started in casting until I could find alternate sources of supply.

Hi

We have almost 2 000 pounds of pure Lead for bullet casting. 99.9 % pure.

it is on our dealer thread.

Our problem will be shipping. For orders larger than 500 pounds we could use a cargo carrier and have a better price for shipping.

If you can set up a pool of BPCR shooters like those in Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick, we could sent the lead to one person of the group and you can split the lead between you.

It is only an idea.

Good Shooting and ALWAYS BE CAREFUL

Go to a marina that repairs sailboats. - you may be able to purchase a lead keel
