I see that South African surplus 7.62 NATO is available, priced @ $400 Can for 1260 round cases. Does anybody have anything good, bad, or interesting to tell about this stuff? It's supposed to be non-corrosive, and loaded with 146-gr match-quality bullets, berdan-primed.

Thanks

John

The last case I had, about 4 years ago, was some of the best surplus I've had, other than some Greek 303 Brit. It's loaded to the nuts though so if you can't take a little extra recoil, be careful. It didn't show any signs of excessive pressure though and was very consistant both velocity and accuracy wise. Where are you finding this ammo? bearhunter

I bought a case about 3-4 years ago as well... clear-frosted plastic sleeves with 8 or 10 25-round cardboard boxes?
It's nice brass, i don't reload yet, so some guy next to was gobbeling it all up... not even sue if you can relond the stuff??

Anyway! It shot very nice, way better than that Norc silver box stuff!

I found it at Williams' Arms in Port Perry. I picked up one battle pack (140 rounds) for $48 and hope to try it out in the next day or so. The guys there are great to deal with and seem to ship a lot of guns out, so I assume that they could send you some ammo if you're interested.

It comes in 20-round cardboard boxes, packed 7 boxes in a heavy green plastic bag that appears to be hermetically sealed and opens with a tear-off strip. Nice clean-looking ammo.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll post some range results if I survive the testing!

John

p.s. bearhunter, I just noticed your location. I'm in Ontario...and so is Port Perry! I suspect shipping a crate of ammo won't be cheap.

Any of the SA I shot was Berdan primed, 70's dated stuff

Districorp has it, so anyone who deals with Districorp should be able to set you up with it, it was announced early this month.
