Who's going out for the fall hunt? The opener is on Tues 11 Oct. I was up at the property and found lots of signs of turkeys. This season I will be taking my youngest brother out for his first hunt. For those that remember last springs turkey circus at my place, I have improved the road to the main gate. So no more parking on the road. All vehicles will be driven in and locked in. I put up new no trespassing signs, and put up several more s saying the police and MNRF CO's can enforce the Ont trespass to property act. I hope this season will be a lot better then last Apr. Here are some pics.

I'm planning on it. Although land is pretty hard to come by down here. I'm checking out some NPRCA land because over the years Jarvis has had a major problem with turkeys.

My biggest issue is the Mrs. is with child so I can't book a weekend away, has to be derivable so I can get to the hospital to welcome my new hunting partner into the world!

Oh well, worst case scenario: I get to wake up early and take a nap in the bush with a little P&Q.

Good luck!

Who's going out for the fall hunt? The opener is on Thanksgiving Monday 11 Oct.

Oct 11th is the opening day but I hate to break it to you, October 11th is a Tuesday.

I'm going out with my 13 year old daughter and hopefully she will bag her first wild turkey! We spent a lot of hours in the field this spring and she never got an opportunity to shoot one so I'm crossing my fingers that this fall she will be successful.

When those ass hats at the MNR start allowing me to use my spring tags that were not filled for the fall hunt sure until then they don't get any more of my money.

Spring bear tags are usable in the fall so why not spring turkey?

Scam. Sure is.

My mistake. Thanks for the correction!

I agree. We should be allowed to use the spring tags.

Sure is! I stopped hunting turkey. I can go to the store and buy a butterball turkey ready to cook for the same cost as a tag in Ontario!!!

Stopped by with my daughter to check my trail cam today...while I was pulling the card (no turkeys on it just deer and a bean harvester) I could hear activity in the bush behind the camera. My daughter heard it too and low and behold, two hens popped out of the grass bordering the field to see what was going on :). With any luck I will be posting a pic of her with her first bird. She is pretty excited an me, well I can hardly wait!

I don't dedicate the effort into fall turkey that I put into spring turkey....... it's just not the same for me.....

This is a weird year, I was out settling my up my deer stand and the Goldenrod is still green and 4 feet high......

I do go for fall turkey usually and do a quiet sit on known runs or bust up the clock and call them back in, but it's hard to get in the mood when it's 15 degrees outside and the weeds are up......

We are expecting frost this week and I will see what next weekend brings.......

Arc light, I sincerely hope your fall hunt is better than the spring! My better half will be out after turkey sometime this season as she injured her shoulder and can,t bow hunt, so the turkey hunting will tide her over until the muzzleloader season!

It's nice to have compliant turkeys :)

Thanks KMG. I hope it'll be good too. I can now park my vehicle inside the gates and have several trail cams on the area. The MNR and OPP know I will be up and will check in when they can. I am taking my little brother out for his first hunt ever on Thursday. He just spent a whack of cash on gear at Cabelas LOL. His wife better see a return on the investment..... I was at the property the other day and the turkeys are still around and responding to calls. So I hope all goes well.

Mrs Arclight has gall bladder surgery tomorrow. With any luck she will be good to go with controlled deer in December.

OK I don't understand , because Ontario's fall season always opens the Tuesday after Thanksgiving - hmmmm

The turkeys are playing hard to get. They are keeping about 100-150M away. My brother is has no patience LOL. And he could not sleep last night, because he was so jacked up. He is taking a nap now. When we pulled in a OPP cop was there in his car doing paperwork. He said it is his favorite paperwork spot. I am sure that will help keep the yahoo's away. Anyways. No action yet, going to have a snack and a coffee and get back at it.
