Only got a chance to head out solo, on an evening hunt with pouring rain. Decided to pack light and only took eight homemade plywood dekes, not very tempting to the larger flocks but a double and a single were curious enough for a shot/s... one witness made it out unscathed.
That is all we had before before field hunting geese became popular and the field decoy market started to come to life. They worked just fine but they were an awful weight to carry. Out here in SK everyone drives out as underseeding or planting of winter wheat is non-existent so no worries of wrecking a future crop.
Not bad at all, I use them to fill up the spread, also have a few shells. If you notice in the pic, they have a horizontal slit cut into them midway in height. I've made oval-shaped pieces with corresponding slits lengthwise that slide into the verticals. This gives them a 3D effect when seen aloft. Got some strange looks a few years back when I slung a shell deke under my arm and had my local Home Depot paint guy colour-match the brown...
