Went out to scout for turkey this morning. Started walking into the bush at 6:30 the sun was just breaking over the horizon. As soon as we walked into the bush there was 3 deer standing about 40 yards from the road. Walked another few hundred yards saw another 4 very good size whitetails run across a brow about 50 yards infront of us. Walked another few hundred yards in and heard a couple loud clucks sounded pretty close.. Kept walking another 100 yards maybe and we were in prime real estate. We were just on the edge of a small gully. And the gobbles began. It was around 7:00 am and the woods were on fire. There were multiple gobblers just lighting up the woods.. A bunch of excited hens clucking.. They were hanging out just down in the ravine infront of us. We were standing there listening to all the comotion and 3 more flew down from the trees about 30-40 yards infront of us... Very pumped for opening day!!!
By the way we were about 50 yards in from the field edge and they were roosting along the edge where a bunch of "leefless trees met the trees with leaves". They were in the trees with leaves on the branches.

Anyone else been out scouting?
Successful?
Where are they located and what time are they leaving their roost?

i was out as well this am . see 6 big toms at one farm and three at another farm . theses birds started to gobbleing from 6 am till about 7 then thy spent the rest of the time chasing jakes away from the hens DUTCH

There are so many turkeys on out farm now that when you drive your 4 wheeler in the the pastures they don't hardly move till you get within 20m of them!

went scouting on friday in southern manitoba. saw birds six times till about ten. one group of 9 toms / jakes. pretty happy cuz we have permission on some decent land. they were all pretty skittish though and it was very windy

I went out and didn't find any sign even. Found a few nice spots to set up. Still mor scouting to do.

Saw a bunch out in the field behind our barn on the weekend. Hope to bag my first one this year. Made it out last spring but only for one day as my work sucks. and the fall hunt was the week we were moose hunting, so hopeful for this year

I hunt my uncle's farm in Essex county. Seeing birds regularily in the local fields but haven't been out to scout the farm yet. Hoping to get out this weekend for a walk about.
