Sow and cubs hunting....grass by my house.

I just drove home and spotted this nice brown sow and her two young cubs about three hundred yards from my front door.

My wife has seen them twice in the past week. I took some pics, went home and got my wife and three year old, and came back to watch them some more. The bears were not nervous at all. Sorry about the crappy resolution, I had to crop from larger pics as I have no zoom. The bears were about eighty yards away.

Lots of bears out now. I saw three on Saturday on my way back from Skagway, Alaska, all bigger than this sow.

Bad news is when I take my boy out for a walk, even on our property, I've got to have a shotgun with me, as bears in my yard is fairly common.

cubs are awesome to watch

i saw a real nice cinnamon colored bear in riding mountain prov. park today, although it was no where near as big as that sow, and thankfully they don't come anywhere near my house in brandon

Playing in the sandbox or chasing butterflies on a hot day with a shotgun slung on your back can cramp a father's style a little, but you can be sure my son isn't afraid of firearms!
