Hi all,

I heard that there were SOME rumblings about using Tanfoglio mags in a CZ, at the Nationals in BC... I thought about it, and after carefully comparying the various mags, the only thing which (I came up with that) anyone could question/complain about is the length - my 9mm Tanfoglio mags are about 1mm shorter than the standard 10 round CZ mags, and quite a bit shorter than the SP01-only 18 rounders.

I asked the PD rules committee, and the official answer is:

The tolerances allowed in respect of the IPSC Box and calibration ammo have no bearing whatsoever on the length of the aftermarket magazines you use while shooting Production Division. The only rules which apply specifically to Production Division are those listed in Appendix D5, in particular:
20.1 Aftermarket magazines which match the external dimensions of standard magazines offered by the OFM for the approved handgun are permitted.
However you/re quite correct in your understanding that the above rule is intended to prevent longer (not shorter) aftermarket magazines being used in place of OFM magazines. Hence, if your magazines are 1mm shorter, this is of no consequence.

Beyond the size, I don't know what else there is to complain about... after market mags are not subject to the same 'thou shalt not modify in any way' restriction as OFM, so I guess that settles that question...
 
my question ( not complaint just trying to understand since I haven't gotten a straight answer from Vince) is an sp01 all "shawdowed up" production legal

Check Global Village.. the answer is there, and has been discussed to death..

as long as the gun was not bought from CZ-USA as a "shadowed up" one (Eg comes with a trigger job), then you can add any shadow "part" and of OFM option. The problem was the trigger job , not the other parts

Yes, the SP01 variant sold in Australia is basically the Shadow without the shadow stamp on it. If you go www.ipsc.org, the SP01 & SP01 shadow, tactical and sport are listed. The CZ USA Custom shop shadow is specifically banned. This is because it has a custom trigger job and Angus and CZ USA are not the OEM in Czechoslovakia.

The rule book states the following about modification of production division guns:
19. Original parts and components offered by the OFM as standard equipment, or as an option, for a specific modelhandgun on the IPSC approved handgun list are permitted, subject to the following:
19.1 Modifications to them, other than minor detailing, are prohibited. Prohibited modifications include changing the original color and/or finish of a handgun, and/or adding stripes or other embellishments.
19.2 Base plates and/or any other devices which provide additional ammunition capacity (e.g. “+2” magazineextensions), are prohibited.
19.3 Sights may be trimmed, adjusted and/or have sight black applied.

Note that the 2006 rules interpretation states:
9. In respect of Appendix D4, Point 19.1, the expression "minor detailing" means the removal of burrs and/or adjustments unavoidably required in order to fit replacement OFM parts and components.

The CZ Shadow sales brochure that lists all options for the Shadow states:
'All offered component variants for the SP01 Shadow pistol are interchangable standard parts as manufactured for and used for CZ pistol lines (75/85, 75B, SP01, P01, 85 Combat).

So, if it's a CZ part for a Shadow it's a part for a CZ75 SP01.
You can install it, and make adjustments unavoidably required in order to fit it.
You cannot make other modifications other than listed above. If there are burrs on any of the parts these can be removed, even if it does reduce trigger pull.

It's summer over there. Get outside and go shooting. Fiddle with your gun when it's too cold to shoot. The best modification possible is a couple of thousand rounds down range.
 
Who are you calling SALLY! I think you wanted to shoot IPSC with a .22.

By the way if you beat me at Haliburton this weekend with that .22 I'm buying one too! HA HA HA.:slap:
