SP01 problems in Ottawa

No. Just reeling from the insightfullness of your posts, haven't got the time to take it all in. Grey cells can only deal with a certain level of profond statements then all goes black.

The same, incidentally goes for the old hit and miss Norinco. Omen got a good one, others have had their frames crack.
Nonsense! Norincos are made of the best quality steel money can buy. That could never happen

Now that was a major contribution to this thread...well done. If your knowledge extends to SP-01's as far as it does to steel there will be no end to the enlightenment we are about to enjoy.

Ohhh, people, PLAY NICE!

There is no doubt that when CZs work they are great guns, and people kick ass with them. There is also no doubt that the quality control on guns coming out of the CZ factories lately has been suspect - some guns are great, some are so-so, some have serious problems (don't take my word for it, this is from the gunsmith who does CZ warranty work in Canada). I am quite certain the the likes of Adam Tyc or Angus do not get a random gun from the assembly line - the guns they use are probably especially chosen to comply perfectly with the design specs, all the parts are manually checked, etc, etc, etc. Sure, I'd never argue that a gun like that wouldn't be perfect. The issue is that that level of perfection has become the exception now, in commercially available CZs, not the rule. Some are great (I'm glad yours is one of those, my friend's is one too), some are bad (like mine and Dan's). So, if you're getting into CZs, you need to ask yourself: "do I feel lucky?"

I agree. Pretty much describes virtually any gun we buy these days except the Glock of course. Watched a feature on ABC a couple of years back. Glock comes off the assembly line is test fired. Gun goes boom it gets shipped, if it doesn't goes into the trash bin. Now that is quality control!

I have the older CZ 85 made in 1988. Bought it from my brother who was the 2nd owner. Gun runs like a clock BUT man the adjustable sights on the older guns are extremely hard to pick up (Sight picture similar to the mil-spec sights found on 1911's). Unfortunately, the way CZ cut the sights into the slide there is nothing much you can do about the sights. That said once you do pick up the sights the gun is dead accurate. OK for playing the games as long as targets are relatively close. Things get interesting rapid shooting at 25 yards though.

Have a Tanfoglio on it's way as we speak. Will post a range report after I get it. A little more money than the SP-01 but is good to go both in IPSC Production and IDPA. The latter is what I shoot the most. The ability to use in both disciplines is what drove me to the Tanfoglio over the SP-01

fwiw, I bought Bartledan's CZ off of him. As it turned out, it was likely the slide release that caused all of his grief with the pistol. I dressed it down slightly, and have not had it jam since. I would recommend a CZ to anyone.
