Afternoon all, I picked up a CZ SP01 Shadow recently and for it's 1st range trip I took along my other 9mm's and Sig P226 and a HK USP Custom Sport.

GRIPS: The Shadow is a very slender pistol overall, as are the grips which fit my small hands well. I find the grips on the P226 a tad on the large size and the USP Custom Sport somewhere in the middle.

SIGHTS: I like the fibre-optic front/Novak style rear sight set up on the Shadow, I prefer it over the plain black target sights on the USP Custom Sport and will probably be adding a fibre-optic front sight to it in the future. I find the fixed sights on the P226 to be good also.

TRIGGER PULL: As others have mentioned the double action trigger pull on the Shadow is one the heavy side (heavier than the other two), but smooth and not a problem for me. The single action trigger pull is very light and smooth.

ACCURACY: All the guns are accurate as far as I'm concerned. The Shadow shot well right out of the box.

Overall I'm happy with my purchase and it is a welcome to addition to my other 9mm's.

Hey, I was a the range this morning and I met a guy who was shooting the exact same gun. He put the aftermarket aluminium grip with the grip tape. Wow, what a shooter! I was really impressed how accurate this pistol is. The fiber optic makes it easy to aim.

I fired one at my range once (they had it as a special rental) but personally I found the safety and stuff crowded my thumbs.

You found the Shadow double action heavy compared to the Sig? How heavy is the sig?

If you really like that F/O sight, you might consider changing it for a smaller one (1.0 mm instead of 1.5 mm). I did and love that better.

If you get to used to sitting your thumb on the safety when shooting (as with a 1911 grip), you may develop a hatred for your sig's slide release as it's in the same spot and your slide will never lock back.

With the spring job to the Shadow the double action pull really goes down. I procrastinated on mine for the better part of a year before one of my shooting buddys handed me a baggie of two springs and said I'd owe him some future consideration.

I put the springs in and did the contact surface polishing described so well on a couple of web sites and wish I'd done it a LONG time ago. It totally transformed the gun to the point that I had to shoot about 200 rounds to get it back to hitting where I was telling it to hit. But now that I've adapted to the new trigger pull my groups are tighter than ever with it. And the important first double action shot for IPSC isn't the "flyer" it used to be.

It's a great gun right out of the box but with a bit of effort it can be a FANTASTIC gun.

I'm not sure how heavy the Sig DA trigger pull is is, but the Shadow is heavier than the Sig and the HK. I did it once with the Sig slide release and once I realized what I did, I haven't done it since.
