Spanish Mauser 1893 questions

I have a few questions for those in the know. I recently grabbed a Spanish mauser off the EE that has no front sight base installed. I've found m93 sight bases for sale so that's no problem, but they do not have any sort of cutout for a common mauser sight hood.

I'd like to install one, so I'm wondering if a Czech VZ24 sight protector will work...or maybe a Swedish mauser hood?

I also already have a k98 front sight blade on one that I intend to install onto the base if they're the same. Can anyone confirm whether it will fit?

I'd like to get rolling on ordering anything I need so she's ready to go shortly after arriving. Thanks in advance.

I just looked in the book Mauser Military Rifles of the World - pages 344 and 345. Pictures shown of 1893 Spanish Long Rifles, built by Ludwig Loewe (predecessor to DWM) do not have a front sight hood, so whatever you can make fit will be "made to fit" - appears to not have been original. On page 354 has pictures of the later Spanish Model 1916 Short Rifle First Pattern and Second Pattern - made to the 1893 pattern, not M98 based - those appear to have a "hood" of sorts - might be a fitting that slides over that front sight and barrel - pictures are not really detailed enough to tell.

Edit: Just found on p. 354, "In 1918, front sight protectors were adopted."

Further edit: page 353: "... the Spanish Model of 1916 Short Rifle was produced by Fabrica de Armas of Oviedo from 1916 to 1951, and by Industrias de Guerre de Cataluna from 1936 to 1939. ... The Spanish Model 1916 is basically a shortened version of the Model 1893 Rifle..." So you will want to check who was the maker of your rifle to verify which version of a Spanish M93 that you have.

The one that I have here is what is left after serious "sporter" job to a Spanish 1916 had been converted by Spain to 7.62 NATO for the Spanish Guarda. There is apparently a difference in the depth of the thumb cut in the left receiver wall between an 1893 (shallow) and a 1916 (deeper), besides the different makers.

The long M1893 Spanish Mauser used a detachable sight/ muzzle cover attached by placing cover on and pushing while giving 1/4 turn.
