Hi,

i have found a nice all matching spanish mauser 1893 last year (including the cleaning rod) and took time to take pictures this week end. I know they are not that popular but finding them in this condition is not too common

Last one I have seen was in worse shape than yours and barrel was rushed on entire length. Lucky you. They were good arms when new and soldered on for a lot longer than anticipated.

Nice rifle! One of my favourites actually the Spanish Civil War is quite fascinating.

Yeah, it's a great lesson on how not to fight a war. A cluster f+ck of the highest order. The only combatant that had it's act together was the Kondor Legion. The only other other conflict more convoluted and difficult to comprehend is the Mexican Revolution.

George Orwell came away from the SCW disillusioned and broken in health.

Reminds me of the contemporary Syrian Civil War in terms of complexity, but at least the Spaniards were able to "conclude" their conflict.

Spanish Mauser rifles and even some of their other firearms get a mostly undeserved bad rap. Their firearms industry turned out a few CHEAP knock offs of different models of firearms and the rest suffered for it.

By and far Spanish made arms are as good as any produced by other nations. Maybe even better in some cases. Their Astra pistols are superb. The retarded roller blow back CETME rifle was cutting edge tech when it came out.

That rifle is unique if only that it's all matching.

Another reason Spanish arms get a bad review is they are usually beat to hell. Many of them have been there done that during their civil and even colonial wars. I always have to hide a smile when some collector says to me "I only collect firearms that went to war." Then turn their noses up at Spanish firearms. The Spanish have a long and respected history of producing world standard, quality firearms. If the bore in your rifle is VG to EXC it should be an accurate rifle.

You don't mention whether it's still chambered for the 7x57 Mauser. Likely it still is. Usually the bolts and other parts got mixed up when they were converted to 7.62 Cetme.
