My father is looking at a Ignacio Ugartechea upland SXS, all I can find online is that they are spanish, and may hold some value.

Any info? Are there any cheapo ones out there we should avoid?

One of the better Spanish makers. I'd put them in the same league as AyA as both are comparatively larger markers who made and make a wide range of guns from straightforward boxlocks to higher end sidelocks. Like AyA, Ugartechea made guns under other brand names including Parker Hale.

The only caution is that I'd avoid any Spanish gun with a single-selective trigger. They are often problematic.

Ugartechea is still making guns. I went through their operation in 1999 during a trip to Spain.

Here's a link with proof and date stamp info on Spanish guns including Ugartechea.

I have an ugartechea 28 ga. sxs single non selective trigger. I have been hunting and shooting clays with it for 14 years and just love the little gun.
