I am looking at picking up a Spanish made Webley clone in .455. It is in preety good shape and the bore is excellent. What is this worth? I can only find values on the originals.
What type of webley? Mk I, II, III, or other model Webley RIC, Webley Pryse, etc... is it antique? If the quality were as good as an original, I'd pay the same.
Does it have British Proof, acceptance or military markings because some Spanish Webley style top break pistols in .455 were used by the British Military during WW1

Yes, It is marked with crown markings in numerous places. It is made by Girada(Espana) I believe but I could have the spelling wrong on the girada part.
Probably Garate Eibar. They made a top-break revolver based on an old Smith & Wesson design which was approved for Spanish military officers, who had to purchase their own sidearms from an approved list. During WWI Britain went shopping for foreign small arms to supplement their U.K. sources, with the criteria that the weapons purchased be available in British service calibres and similar in mechanisms and operations to British weapons so that training wouldn't be too complicated and that they be sourced from allied or non-belligerent countries. Garate's revolver fit the bill and they manufactured some in .455 Webley for Britain but many didn't pass inspection and are found without British proof marks or War Office property markings.
I had one and a couple of years ago sold it to a member here who seemed to have some knowledge of them. I think it may have been Wheaty.
I've seen various Webleys' going for anywhere from 150-300$. The "Wobleys'" are nice indestructible guns, but you better be reloading and have a good stash of brass because the rounds are very rare(if it's .455) and when you do find them they're expensive. Fiochhi (sp?) wants 60%/box of 50, and gun shows are the same if not more. Fun guns though!
