This has been somewhat covered in other threads but I'm consideering a red dot and my two cheaper choices are the Sparc and HD7. Problem is, I haven't seem them anywhere that i can touch them and play with them. I want a small dot (1-2 MOA) because it makes for more accurate shooting. I want a 1x with unlimited eye relief. Both have these features so it's down to this;

Which has the best field of view?
Which has the best glass?

If this doesn't work out I'll drop the extra 300$ and get an Eotech ...

I've got a Sparc and an EOtech and my buddy has the HD7.
My thoughts are... between the Sparc and HD7... actually they're both pretty damn good, but the HD7 outfeatures the Sparc if you don't mind the extra $60.

I prefer the EOtech to both, easily... but you'd really have to shoot the hell out of it to get the extra $300 worth out of it.

Just personal opinion.

What about thoughts on field of view? I've looked down the tube of a Bushnell Trophy, that other Bushnell that looks like the HD7 and a Millet, they all feel rather cramped.

HD7 is rugged, has a nice rubberized coating for protection, has auto-light sensing feature, and takes a standard AAA battery (think rechargeable if you hate buying batteries). It also has an optional 2x zoom attachment, which is cool.

I have not run mine though any serious paces yet, but it will purportedly withstand any reasonable amount of punishment. I have run 30 3" slugs through my shotgun with the HD7, and about 400Rds of 7.62x39 in my SKS. Not a single issue yet. The windage and elevation dials are easy to turn by hand and provide solid clicks for a confident adjustment.

No thoughts on FOV. This is my first quality red dot, and so I have nothing to compare it against. I can say that a crappy little reflex sight I have is much easier on the eye, but it will not stand up to my SKS or 3" shells.

If both eyes are kept open with any red-dot then FOV is not an issue, this is how they are designed to be used. Also, the SPARC's 2x magnifier did not distract from the FOV as much as I thought it might; in fact, not at all. Very impressive.
