Good evening,

I have recently acquired a lightly used M&P9 Pro from the EE, and would like to know of any parts which commonly need replacing- and maybe a good website to acquire them from. I'm good for around 3000 rounds per year, is there a round count that I should be replacing all springs etc.?

For the time being I'll shoot it as is, though a few people at my local club are strongly recommending an "Apex" trigger..

Any links or advice from long time M&P owners would be appreciated, thanks!

Found this on the MP website hope this helps, i picked up everything from Brownells for about 100$ btw

Like all pistols, the S&W M&P needs maintenance done to it. Parts also break, become bent, etc. So we decided to put together two packages.
The first package is a Maintenance one. Per S&W, the guide rod assembly, trigger return spring and mag springs should be replaced every 5,000rds or 5yrs. Since the pistols typically come with two mags, we included two mag springs. Additional mag springs are available.

The second package is an Armorers one. The two main components that can break on the gun is the striker and slide stop assembly. Another part that is either lost or bent is the take down lever retaining wire. Last part is the trigger bar assembly. M&P armorers typically see this part either bent/ruined from "home gunsmithing" so it is a good idea to have a spare one.

I started out changing the recoil spring after 5000 rounds, the second spring I left in for another 15,000, it's on it's 3rd spring now and it's getting close to 40000 rounds total, and shows no changes in recoil or ejection and no signs of hammering on the frame. I changed a striker somewhere in there, but the one I took out was fine so it's in the spares bin. I experimented with the competition springs from Apex, but went back to using the factory springs very quickly. I also changed out the slide lock, but again, it showed a little wear, but not enough to affect it's functioning. I've decided to replace the mag springs and followers, again, no misfeeds but the occasional fail to lock back on empty and it's only about $7 to rebuild a mag, so why not. So, based on my experience I'd say that you won't have much to worry about for five years anyway and probably ten. At the end of the year, I'm going to do a rebuild on the gun, and I'll measure the parts and compare the old parts with the fresh ones.

Incidentally, the M&P is probably the only gun made that you can rebuild and have a definite, positive effect on it - essentially returning it to new, for a fraction of the original cost of the gun.

Good advice here.

I haven't heard concerns about the Pro in particular, but extra fiber optic in the right size is always a good idea to have on hand.
