So I have a Mini-14 in a Sparta stock and recently put an aimpoint PRO on it. In many of the positions when the Pro is tightened it still remains loose and has a bit of wiggle/play in the optic.

I put the optic on rail on my swiss and it doesn't seem to wiggle so my guess is the metal rail on the Sparta is most likely a piece of junk.

Anybody have any other ideas/ thoughts?

Cheers.

I have had that with a few Promag products in the past, using a QD Burris P.E.P.R. Having the QD set up nice and tight to my XCR rail then moving the optic to the Promag product and having to tighten it more to get it to stay snug. Comes down to a simple tolerance difference in the rail itself, not much help I know but im not quite sure what you can do if you already have it as snug as possible.

Some mounts will probably have a little bit more range of movement in the clamping surfaces as they are tightened, and so will work better on the too-narrow rail. I had the same problem with the rail on my ISSC .22...some mounts work, some won't tighten sufficiently.
