Thanks. Ya I tried that website. They will ship to Canada but you have to do it in two seperate shipments to keep each one below the $100 import limit, and pay seperate shiping on each one. It would end up getting pretty expensive. I have a newer Mini 30 with a thicker, tapered barrel so I don't even know if the Mo-Rod would make an improvment.
I put one on my mini 30 and the accuracy improved however to qualify that I had a trigger job done by a fellow here on CGN at the same time so I can't say how much of a difference it made by itself but that rifle is definitely a shooter now. I guess it depends on how well your Mini 30 is shooting presently. The trigger job made a huge difference for sure. I believe the MoRod added to the overall reliability. I do notice that it lives up to it's claims about being a heat sink as if I am in the mood to do some fast shooting I don't get those wierd flyers I used to get as the barrel heated up and the Mo Rod definitely draws heat from the barrel. You can feel it.

Nice fit and finish good and tight lockup no real wobble. The top rail seems to be Weaver and my Aimpoint won't fit. Not that it matters as I am going with a scope. It weighs in at around 6 kg scope and all.
I measured and the Sparta is .6 of a kilo more than the wood stock.
So the rifle shown weighs about 13.2 lbs? Thats about the same as my JAE stocked M14.
Pretty heavy for a rifle that started around 6 lbs.

In his post he said .6 kg not 6 kg. so that's 1.32 pounds (more than the wood stock) as i understand it.
He did say though that it weighed 6 kg with the scope. The Mo Rod has to be a pound there so that adds to the weight. It definitely is not as light as a stock mini but over 13 lbs. Hmm, worth checking out on another scale.

Range Time with the Sparta!
Welll I finally got a chance to go to the range to test the Sparta. It has been snowing like crazy here but it finally stopped for a bit.
I originally had mounted an Eotech with an Aimpoint 3x but was concerned about my Eotech getting dinged up because it was over the ejection port. Other shooters had reported this problem. So I put a Burris 2 x 7 on in it's place and I am glad I did.
The gun feels totally different shooting compared to the factory mini stock. It's a natural pointer in my opinion. Love the cheek riser. Works very well with the Burris scope. Everything lines up quickly. In spite of that I was disappointed at first as the rifle wasn’t shooting as well as it usually does. Was the Sparta a mistake? I had a lot of flyers. At some point I realized I was really gripping the gun hard like I had to do with the mini when I was shooting for groups. I tried holding in a more relaxed fashion. I also realized I was pressing sideways against the cheek riser so I just put my cheek lightly on the stock and things started improving.
I was shooting three different loads: 100 gr. moly Speer HP’s; 110 gr. V max ; and 110 gr. Hornady OT’s.
I hadn’t used the Speer bullets before and had three different loads to try. To make a long story short the highest load of Benchmark gave the best accuracy.
The 110 gr. VMax bullet is a tried and true load giving predictable results. I also had 50 rounds that I use for hunting, the 110 OT Hornady. They also produced some good groups today.
Near the end of my session I figured I should quit on a happy note so started shooting, standing and sitting, at a 6x6 inch steel plate. It was great! The Sparta just hammered that target. I noticed a long v-shaped notch had formed after I shot a big chunk out of it. 3 more shots and the plate split in half. I had 4 rounds left and shot one piece that was still hanging from a chain. Hit it 3 out of 4 times standing. I love this gun and the stock makes it even better. Haven't had this much fun shooting in a while. Final word is I am really glad I bought this stock. What a hoot!
New optics with 2 x 7 Burris
11 shot group @ 100 m. This was with the 110 gr. Hornady. The hole in the top right corner was a called flyer. Shot one more to make it ten not counting the flyer. Not the best group it has done but certainly neither a coyote or a deer would have noticed the difference I don't think. Never said it was a tack driver!!
Best group of the day. First time shooting with a 100 gr. bullet.
