Sparta!!!!!!!!!

I am not a mini 14 owner i do like the look of the stock (wonders if it is comfortable). watched a few vids of takedown for mini 14 lots of parts. so now that it is encased in a pretty stock with locktight on the screws how often do you clean it? how many rounds before it screams clean me I don't wanna work no more.

I was thinking the same thing. I dont think its necessary to put locktite on those 4 screws, every time you put it back together after cleaning it you are re- torqing them.

hi all calabert 40 here. just got my sparta from dave at high caliber services corp.great guy exallent to deal with . very pleased will deal with again .first impressions.well after a hour of smiling and jumping for joy , the wife beat me back to reality with a broom stick.i took a really good look at this thing.its built like a brick sh''''t house . really strong ,seems a little heavy. no twisting here. thick body , and the aluminum rail is very robust .you can bash heads with this thing.the rail seams to be attached to the body very solidly. so as long as the fit is tight with the receiver , all will be fine. im sure there are ways to screw or pin , bolt the receiver etc. to make a solid union in case of some movement.im going to camo mine first as its my 200 yard and under yote gun.then ill test it out .im still waiting to get into a gun club close by , but i cant get acess till they call me to do there safety course.ill post a video on you tube . try to get some real good close ups of it ,and all that stuff.thanks again hical . what ever the outcome , good or bad your service was very nice. cheers.

Sitting on the fence. The Sparta looks really cool, but I'd like too know how much it weighs before I take the leap.
My Burris AR 332 could be getting a new ride.

It's kinda like putting the body of a Lexus over top of a Prius. It's still a Ruger Mini-14. But on the plus side, it will make the heads of NDP member's eplode when they see it! :D

haha nice one. but i have to disagree with you mini's are a great rifle. at least the newer stainless ones are.

Mine just arrived today! Its a bit heavier than expected, seems to have anise fit and finish. Appears durable too.

I don't care much for Lexus' or Prius', but I sure do like Mini14s!!
I prefer the analogy of the body of a Raptor over an F150 :)

Well I got out sunday to break in the mini using hornady 110 grain v max factory loads. The gun handles very nice, recoil for the 6.8 loads are very manageable. I only put 40 rounds down range since my redfield 3-9 was 18 inches low at 50 yards. I am probably going to have to go to an offet set of rings if this continues. The stock felt great, no wobble from the rear stock. The only thing missing is a lower rail for my bipod. I will fix that in the coming month.

So, if the top rail bolts to the stock, what are the odds of things going back to zero after tear down to clean.....aaaand, what keeps the rail true to the bore?

Drew: would you say that needing offset rings is caused by a flaw in the stock/rail design?

The gun is going into my local gunsmith to look into that for me. I will report back with his findings. To clarify for everyone the scope was bought new for this gun, box is undamaged, gun is new unfired before stock install, stock was new and rings are new. I have set up a dozen scopes on my own before with absolutely no issues so I am concerned there is an issue with the stock.

The gun did shoot a decent group but 18" low with the scope adjustment maxed out.

I'm sure this probably isn't the case but the first time I ever mounted a scope I accidently mounted it 90degrees too far counter clockwise and I had a lot of trouble trying to zero it. It was also a Redfield. After staring at it blankly for a while I figured out it was mounted wrong. Lol.

hmm, this could be a deal breaker for sure. I was always wondering about mounting a sighting system onto a rail bolted to the stock, and the action is clamped in.

Like i said I am going to have it looked into by a trusted professional to ensure there is no unseen oddity or a mistake on my part. The upper rail on the Sparta mounts solid and I have confidence it is fine but I may be missing something as simple as an offset mount or god knows what. I am still very happy with everything I just have to get this sorted before we head out for spring coyotes.

it could veary well mount solid to the stock. BUT if the whole thing's outta wack, then what? hear's hoping your scope's dicked. If the stock isnt right, then im sure a lotta ppl will be unhappy.
