A holy grail for Finn collector's, Polustuslaitos is a Finn property marks used for only two months in 1942 so only a few thousand rifles have it, as it was replaced by the SA marking.
The receiver used when this rifle was rebuilt with a Tikka barrel in 1941 has German WW1 regimental markings also.

Ribbit, ribbit, croak!

Like Klunk mentioned in his thread, I am green with envy, greener than Kermit The Frog!:) If you have one rifle like that and your wife is pestering you for "that ugly old rifle", just send it to me, I promise I'll give it a warm home! ;)
PP.

Its right by the screw hole at the rear of the receiver, on the underside. you will have to take the rifle apart to take a look. There may be only 3 numbers (instead of 4) as well there should either be a single arrow, a hammer or a Bow and arrow. Some may be hard to read, but if you have time, check it out, it would be interesting to see what make of reciever you have.

Or, perhaps a C inside an ellipsoid (Chatellerault) with a late 19th century date under it. I have an M-91/27 rifle with a Tikka stepped barrel that has a New England Westinghouse receiver. Another is a 1926 Tikka barreled M-91 which has a Sestroryetsk 1917 receiver and I have a M-24 (Lotta rifle) which has a Böhler Stahl barrel with an Ishevsk receiver.
Sometimes, you run into a "sanitized" receiver which bears no markings at all.
I'm trying to find out if Magnafluxing could bring out some marks.
PP.

Yes indeed, I don't often mention the Chatellerault marking becuase well, its another one of those hens teeth items. I have managed find two Chatell bolt bodies, but those were all luck. I have yet to see or find any C marked rifles or other items so far in Canada. If you have a C marked receiver however, WHOA! That would be most awesome indeed.

Where do you get magnafluxing done PP?

welll....

No factory marks...but a 4 digit date that looks like it has been partially removed. Looks like 1896.

also...the Finn barrel has a second ser# under the wood and the reciever has a second serial# under the wood

Ohhh....and it shoots terrible...

Hmmm, looks more like 1895 to me, but that's neither here nor there, that's cool. Too bad no factory mark is there, I stared at the picture for 10 mins hoping it would pop out at me..... :(

As for that accuracy....it doesn't look good....you had a real flier on that southernmost shot. Are you going to get rid of it now? :D

That flyer was a result of my first pierced primer.

wear safety glasses eh?....wouldnt have been much fun without them

ooh ouch, sorry. Well other than that primer incident, it seems you got a good winner on your hands. Now does it shoot better than that Sestroretsk you got or worse?
