Special Forces Knives ! ! ! - UPDATE: April 4/2017

I'm guessing with the nice weather, many of you will be hiking, camping and really getting out there and wanting the best equipment...

These knives are really high end and tough for all your hard uses....and pricey, but if you want a lifetime knife, these are it !!

And other great knives from EDC to med. and heavy uses, to choose from.. Browse my site and contact me for any brand/model on my site or not.

That point on the end of the handle looks like a hazard... flopping around on your belt in that sheath and it hangs up on something or you slip and the knife is levered into your body.... I like that style of sheath in general but not with that "skull crusher" point
What's the point? :)

I guess the rubber boats and wet suits are all impervious to cuts and punctures. Here's a seal trained in warfare heavily armed and he needs a point on the wrong end of his knife? Makes no sense to me.

I believe the point on the end is a glass breaker or similar type purposes.

It would work well for that but then so would the tip of the knife. The longer model with the rounder profile looks a bit more practical.. I guess if you are wearing body armor getting jabbed by the "glass breaker" wouldn't be as much of a problem.... :)

Well, one would not want to damage the usefull sharp tip for breaking glass.....and for the most part, I don't think accidentally falling on your knife in that one weird/odd way to poke yourself with this edge, is not a concern for most folks... This glass breaker feature, is actually very common on many knives out there... I'm sure you're cool with knives, and you're just yanking my chain.... but if someone really was paranoid about this point hurting themselves with, well, maybe they shouldn't be permitted to play with knives or cutlery... :p :p

Not pulling your chain at all, I have a fallkniven s1 that I usually carry out in the bush and you'd be surprised how often it can get twisted around in its drop leather sheath and poke a guy with its rounded pommel/tang. I'm pretty solid on my feat but sometimes being agile just puts you into more extreme terrain while bushwacking and I have slipped a few times in my many years of bushwacking through the coast mountains.
Honestly I've never had to break glass with a knife, but if I did I could only see it being in an emergency situation (car crash) and chances are I won't be wearing a seal knife at the time but if I was, I sure wouldn't worry about breaking the tip... :)

Fact is most people buy these knives to look at not use and I imagine the seals choose the model without the spike or a knife of their own choice instead of the issued unit.

It's an interesting read about the company specializing in problem solving getting a contract to design these knives for naval use.

Have you had a chance to use or carry the knife in question?
