Hello ,here's my big question! Im installing my SpecOps stock ,and when i tighten the stock screw Its really snug before its on the firearm properly. Before I strip the heck out of it I though Id ask here first! , there is about 1/4 inch left before its snug with the receiver and its real tight on the screw already.... Im i missing somthing simple , or should i just get a bigger hex key and yank on it good?
here's what it looks like as of now....

There are a couple of potential problems. We have seen a few stocks that were sent with incorrect or damaged screws. If you can find a real 870 you might want to ensure that the screw is ok. The next more common problem is that the Chinese guns used a different thead for the stock bolt, or that the threads were stripped or otherwise damaged. In this case you may need to chase the threads with a tap.

take it off again check the threads Compare the factory screw to the spec ops screw. Look for metal material on the screw. If there is, that could be a sign of trouble. The screw should start off easy, Zero resistance. as it tightens towards the end when the stock meets up to the receiver there will be more resistance. You know this. Trust me when a screw is cross threaded you know it. If you did damage the the threads get yourself the propper plug tap and clean it up If it beyond that then you will have to re tap the hole. This is worst case measures. For now compare the two screws if you can. The key here is if it started easy with a little resistance at the end It should be good. Just dont over tighten the screw.

The screw should be 1/4 x 28 Thread
