Specter DR

I have one and really like it. After my experiences with other Elcan products, which I can't stand, I have to say Elcan got it right with the Spectre DR.
The downside is that they are heavy and expensive. The upside is that they have great glass, the 1-4X switching is really nice, and they are solid.
Are there specific questions you have?

Highly recommend it if you got the coin:D. Here's mine;)

I should add that you will enjoy ballistic compensation in the reticle that is calibrated for 5.56 carbine. To switch from 1x to 4x is a very fast and easy lever. Not your average C-79 on the C7. Don't get me wrong, I like the C79 (Which i think has an unfair rap), it's just the SpecterDR has more functionality built in, no screwing around with a dial to compensate for distance.

The biggest problem i have had with Elcans was really just the mounts they came with, other than that i liked them!

Used one overseas and didn't like it. It's a good scope, but I didn't like having to flip a switch to go from 0x to 4x. I switched to an ACOG with Red dot on top and it is the best combat / tactical optic going. The only problem is cost. But I don't regret spending the money at all.

Pros:
-Fastest 1-4x switch available
-BDC reticle
-Daylight visible illum.
-Fantastic glass
-Short enough to fit some NVD's

Cons:
-Cost (~$1900)
-Illum. runs on batteries (1/3DN at that...)
-Weight. 1.3lbs
-Somewhat restrictive eye relief
-Somewhat busy reticle (not an issue for many)

That being said, I love the one I still have. Although it's not on a gun now. Clearly I need to buy more guns.

+1
Yeah I'm running that on my Bushy!

Only downside is that you change your cheek weld when transitioning which is less a problem with training.

flipping a switch does sound rather arduous

Curious how does the ACOG achieve going from 1x to 4x with less than a flip of a switch? Would like to understand the technology. And I presume it is 1x as 0x would be blackout.

It does not

The ACOG is two sights "the ACOG it's self with a Doc optic on top"
