Maybe I missed it, but curious what prevents the lower from mating with standard AR-15 uppers? Is there a dimensional difference or a lug or something?

The rear of the lower doesn’t hold the buffer tube the upper does so there is no way you could even duct tape an AR upper to this and safely fire a round. So the interface between the two is flat.

An AR upper doesn't line up with the lower. The take down pins are configured differently. The stock is attached to our upper receiver.

It has been asked a couple of times - is the length of your new receiver the same as an AR-15? Folks with short-barreled AR rifles need to know if they can build a new gun that will meet the 26" NR limit.

I found online the length of stanag opening was 7 cm; if that is accurate, and I did the rest of the pixel math right, the receiver is 22 cm or 8 and 2/3 inches long. Just popped the picture into paint, cropped the receiver for pixel length, and then cropped the mag well without the flairs. If I'm wrong, please correct. Thanks!

Sorry, I don't think I can trust measurements from someone who divides inches by 3's, or any other odd fractions.

Thanks! I realize now i cropped the picture at the edges of the mag well flairs, but forgot to take into account the thickness of the mag well walls wall beyond the flairs. Thanks for the updated info!

that would depend on if you’re using an adjustable carbine stock or fixed A2 stock, and muzzle device.

The minimum length of a firearm (which this qualifies for as it is not semi-automatic) is 660 mm in Canada. Not sure if the barrel length number includes the threads, but a standard rifle length stock from Brownells is 238 mm. The receiver is 207 mm in length. That leaves 207 mm, or about a 8 1/2 ". Even if the threads mess up the length a bit, a 9" barrel should work, and a 10" barrel would definitely work. Conversely, with no stock at all, if the rifle had a folding stock, the minimum barrel length wold be 453 mm, or just under 18", which means a standard semi-automatic non-restricted barrel should be fine with a folding stock.
