Speedloaders. HKS and Maxfire and speed strips, oh my!

At the range I wouldn't have a problem with using Comp's but in the real world were you need the speed loader to work every time I use HKS.

Comp III's for the K-Frames and the GP-100, Comp II's for carry and the Comp I for the J-Frames, N-Frame .357's and the .44's.

Do Comp I's work the same way as Comp II's, with just a push of the button, no twisting like the HKS?

Exactly the same internally, the only difference being the size of the button/cover on the top/back of the loader (Comp I is the smallest with part of the rear of the cartridges visible, Comp II is completely covered...

blake

Thanks!

Wanted something different then the Comp III's...

I've tried the Comp III's and wasn't that impressed with them.

The JetLoader from Buffer Technologies was something that caught my eye.

They work really well, load easier then the Comp III's (I find), they are more compact and propel the rounds into the chambers very well.

As well to go with the Jetloaders, the velcro pouches for them:

I have four Jetloaders, two Maxfire Speedloaders for stripper/backup and three pouches. Works very well as an IPSC setup (GP100 6" SS).

Hope this info helps! :D

how long can a person keep the safarilands loaded under pressure without eventually weakening the spring? the hks may be better for your purposes i think

I don't think you would weaken the springs keeping Safarilands loaded anymore than you would weaken pistol magazine springs keping them loaded. Spring steel is designed to be compressed. I keep both items loaded for many months without issue. I have Comp III's but am going to the II's for a bit less bulk.

tks fellas, i always wondered about that

Interesting. Brinks uses Comp II's exclusively now. Some older guys kept their HKS loaders but it's over 95% Comp II's now. I can only speak for Alberta I guess as I worked part time there on and off over a 10 year period.

The beauty of the Comp II loader is you grasp the outer (large) diameter and simply push the loader into the cylinder and when it makes contact with the center of the locking pin the rounds fall loose and into the cylinder and the loader falls away as you close the cylinder. Foolproof. Like I said earlier I started with HKS and after using the Comp II's once I was hooked and never worried about them failing if I had to reload under stress.
