Which would be better for coyotes in your opinion out of a .308? A very long shot will be 275 yards. Not interested in using them for deer just coyotes. Love the look of that gaping 130 hollow point. Please don’t suggest any other than the 308 because it is what I have and it is what I will use. I am in Ontario north of highway 7 so it is legal. Thanks in advance.

110 ttsx or 110 vmax .
308 is a good caliber all around. I like the flat shooting bullets for coyotes.
No time , things happen fast when dogs see you...
110 bullets hate branches. Maybe 130 would be a safer bet.
If i where skinning them out. Copper bullets all day.

I run the 125g TNT over Varget powder and get superb accuracy out to 500 yards out of my 308Win Tikka Sporter and my TRG22. I also run the Speer TNTs in my 25/06Rem and 6.5CM, again over Varget powder for coyotes here in Southern Ontario. Reasonably priced projectiles compared to most other brands and capable of turning in the occasional 1” group at 200 yards. Also capable of displacing coyote insides to the outside. Retrieves are very short. You will be happy!!

I used the Speer 130hp for many years on groundhogs. My longest shots were around 300 yds also. Out of a push feed win model 70 in 30-06 they were capable of 3 round groups at 100 yds that were very close to 30 cal. I’m sure it won’t surprise you but there won’t be any hide left worth keeping if that’s a consideration.

I have shot coyotes with both the 110 AMAX and the 125 Nosler Ballistic Tip.

The 110 VMAX is like nothing else. It produced an honest to gawd 4" exit hole on a chest shot. The insides of the yote were just blood soup.

The 125 Ballistic Tip is my favourite. It can be pushed to impressive velocities, is very accurate and has the BC to carry decent distance. I've shot them to 700 yds on steel. On yotes, the Ballistic Tip produces a ca. 3" exit hole.

Both bullets kill yotes DEAD!

I used to run Hornady 125gr SST out of an 18" barrel Ruger carbine at 2950fps. Accurate, and I put two into a 180lb 8 point buck trotting pass me one morning at 65 yds broadside. Both hit the vitals squarely and stopped opposite side with 95% weight retention. Should work on a 50 lb coyote and they were a decent price so load work ups and practice not all that expensive. Exit wounds will be excessive I'm sure. Remember 125 at 2950 is very similar to a factory 270win 130s in a shorter barrel at 2950ish, and that works pretty good as well on deer inside your 275 yds..

I considered using the 125 Nosler Ballstic Tips on deer. The bullet is rated by Nosler as a dual purpose hunting / varminting bullet, however there are lots of online discussions about them being a bit too explosive on deer at high velocity.
