I ordered 500 bulk Speer 158 grain SWC's from Wholesale Sports the other day. They just arrived. I suppose when you buy lead bullets in bulk one should expect some deformity, but the shoulder doesn't appear as sharp on these bullets as I had expected. I've never loaded lead bullets before though.

Has anyone used these before? Any favourite loads? They'll be shot out of a 6" S&W Model 28

Speer lead bullets are swaged not cast, they use pure lead(soft) for swaged bullets as anything harder is too hard on equip....because they are soft they will deform easily in transit. They should shoot okay, just don't load above 800fps or so.

I load those!

Nice little popgun bullet out of my GP100...

Speer 158gr bulk lead (your bullet), 4gr Universal, Win SP...

front sight barely comes off point of aim in recoil... figure around 800fps

Do they still coat them with a graphite like powder to act as a lubricant and reduce or eliminate leading ??

I used the full wadcutters many years ago & liked them.
