Hi,
Anyone done any testing on Speer's Hot Cor bullets?
If so, how well do they hold to gether and expand?
I picked some up in BC to try(450 marlin, .458 350gr, first load 52gr IMR 3031), and since there's a return on milkjugs here now I have a tougher time sneaking them out of the house.
thanks.

The hot cors are great bullets, use to use only partitions, got some hot cors no differance to me on deer or blackies

I killed two bears very dead with them 200 gr SPZ with a 308 Norma magnum last spring. I would say they worked very well.

I use th speer 300 gr in my 444 marlin, accurate and deadly.Killed many deers and bears with it, i never recovered a bullet from the carcass, many were dead in their tracks kills.

Should do the same effect if not better with the .450 marlin.

Good luck.

i've only loaded 2 boxes of 150g for 30-30 but the ogive measurements were all over the place. i was getting seating depth variations of .015 in many cases and that is measured with a length comparitor, not to the tip. but even the tip measurements were way off to confirm. and the bullet weights... well, it's just rediculous they even let them leave the factory.

Federal loads Hot-Cors in their factory powershok ammo, which used to be the Classic line. I used them for 20 years, and shot lots of deer with them from a .308 to a .300WM, without any drama...Haven't used any though since I started reloading...

Mouth shot? Nice picture :)

I just want to chime in and say I fired 180g HotCor's out of my M305 with 43g H380 and it was deadly accurate. I did fire one into the sand at 15 yards and the jacket just turned into a spinning knife, didn't slip off.

I have loaded them for years, and they perform great. Usually complete pass through. Elk don't like them at all. Only one stayed in, and mushroomed beautifully. Never ever found one in a deer. They smash bone great on bear too.
