Request the help of anyone owning the Speer No.14. I just got off the phone with their tech svc dept but forgot to write down part of the data.

Re: .243 Win, Speer 100gr BT Spitzer SP (Part #1220) using IMR 4831 - No. 13 data dictates use of magnum (CCI 250) primer and min/max charge of 36.0 - 40.0gr.

Plse confirm in Edition 14 that, using same bullet and powder, a magnum primer is NOT called for, and min/max charges are now 38.0 - 42.0gr.

FYI: Apparently this is due in part to a change in angle of this bullet's boat tail taper in the past couple years. The new lot numbers can be distinguished by a "F" (or later).

A reply confirmed by a couple members would be appreciated.

With a 243, 100 grain bullets, 42 grains of H4831 is a less than my starting load.
No, you do not need a magnum primer.

I just happened to have #14 open right in front of me. No, it does not indicate a magnum primer for IMR 4831. You have the powder charges correct. The listed velocities are 2659fps and 2913.

CurtMG - a quality reply. Thanks for being the "virtual" No.14 for me.

p.s. The avatar looks a little Kimv**r Gill-ish. Yikes! Hope that isn't you!:ninja:
