spencer 1860 carbine

This much I found out about it. Spencer rifles were not officially issued until Jan. 1863. Up until July of 1863 only rifles were issued, carbines came later. A carbine with serial #36062 was issued to Co.1 3rd Michigan Volunteer Cavalry in June of 1865. Your serial # might be too late for Civil War duty. Many were still made and sold to other countries. Regardless you have a nice piece of history. Enjoy
