Hi Guys & Gals

Dos any one own a Spencer rifle/car. original of re-pro? I’m very keen on getting a re-pro one but can’t get much info or pictures. How smooth is the loading and unloading. Do the rounds stay securely in the tubular mag. or can they be shook out easy. These have a half-#### for safety, right? When fully loaded are the balanced well or a little heavy @ the rear. How are they for disassembly, easy to clean or a lot of fussy small parts? It would be really supper if some one could send me pix of there’s: loading/unloading, action open and may be dissassembled; pretty please :)

Cannot comment on quality or function of repros.
Stripping is easy.
Carbine is butt heavy and rifle balances better.

Go to the CAS city hall forums website they have a Spencer forum on there and they can answer all your questions. Also I was interested ingetting a Spencer repro myself but couldn t find anyone who sold them in Canada.Marstar imports Armi sport guns(makers of the Spencer)and though they promised a couple of years ago that they were going to bring them in and even put me on a list,it never happened so I finally gave up on getting one(didn t want to go the expensive bring it in yourself route)

Question. Does Original Spencer qualify as Pre 1898 Canadian antique status? I turned one down once.

Not an "Antique" for that purpose until you weld the repeating mech into a single shot.

No longarn rifle repeaters qualify as prescribed antiques, except double rifles (or multi-barreled types), and then only if they are old enough, and all the bores are larger than 8.3mm.

Cheers

Any rifle manufactured before 1898 that is capable of discharging only RIMFIRE ammunition other than .22 calibre short, long, or long rifle, is considered a prescribed antique firearm. This includes repeating rifles such as original Spencer rifles.

The shells will drop out backwards with the gate and spring assembly removed. (I assume you are talking about unloading the gun). My one criticism of the originals was that the extractor tends to saw through the rim after a few extractions. It is sort of willow leaf shaped and moves down as it extracts the shell. I shot mine as a single shot with an offcenter blank as the primer.
