My years acquisitions so far include a Norinco SKS, an SVT40, and soon a Winchester M50.

My thought is that the government could not legally take them away without due compensation, and I'm personally thinking that the taxing required to fund such compensation would do a fair job dissuading support. Lot of money in the semis...usually more expensive. Also some hearty folk who'll put up a good fight...

I prefer bolt guns myself but don't want to lose the right to buy a semi if I decide I want one(M305 and an SKS are both on my want list). Sadly it is only a matter of time before they ban all semi's and handguns. Sheeple are so afraid of crime and we live in one of the safest countries in the world. I think that if we were willing to sacrifice a whole generation in WW1 and WW2 for freedom that the occasional crime is worth t to live in a free society.

They have already been able to get around commpensation by grandfathering.
They enact a law that makes it so only people who already have restricteds can buy them, then as people age the market gets smaller for those weapons and the blue book value drops. Your collection becomes worthless because there is no one allowed to buy it.

you would have to be high on alot of glue to think that the Liberals will get in, let alone get in with a minority... with stupid ####face Dion leading them, we have it made. The only major concern I would see is whether in order to get more votes next time...Harper goes more left and sells us all down the river..

Dion will never be Prime Minister... a year or so from now, I doubt he'll even be in politics anymore..

Our guns have been under threat from the gun grabbers since the '70s. Not buying what you want to, when you can is silly. Enjoy your hobby while you can. If I lived my life worried over what the lieberals were going to ban or restrict next, I'd never do anything.

Best answer yet. Standing ovation!!!! :D

While most of us only a hobby that is threatened, you have a business and a paycheck being attacked! It's only due to dealers like you guys that we can enjoy our fun.

I could not agree more.
Had so much fun shooting a buddy's Stag 15 2L that I bought the first one that came along.
I will continue to enjoy all my firearms.

You're right. It's inevitable.

I'll offer you 10¢ on the dollar for your firearms right now. It will save you all that stress on your ticker later on as you age.

No, no, thanks are not required, it's the least I can do for someone who has already given up hope.......

Let me tell you folks, I've been caught out by gun law changes more times than I can remember, loads and loads of times. The most painful example that comes to mind was that I used to own one of the original XM9 P226 test pistols used by the US military. I sold it to a collector in Germany for a mint, and then handguns were banned in GB and I could have kept it because it would have been exempt from the ban.

But how the hell was I to know a primary school in Scotland was going to get shot up by a nutcase?

You can't sit there sweating, because you don't actually know what will happen. Will they ban semi-autos? Unlikely, more likely just they'd go for all restricted firearms, but then again, maybe they might tack on some other semi-autos, and who the hell knows if they'll have the votes? Who knows when they'll be elected? Who knows how far up on the political scale it will be? Who knows whether there might be a grandfather/opt-in/opt-out clause or what the province might do (hmm, unless you live in Ontario)?

They're not going to forget that they lost the last election partially because of the gun issue, and they're not going to forget what a complete PITA the registry has been. Just because some resolution was adopted doesn't mean that translates directly into legislation.

All sorts of resolutions get adopted and it doesn't mean anything.

What it boils down to is that the Liberals are anti-gun (like you didn't already know that) so don't vote for them!

if absolutely no one turned in there semi's after they were banned they would have a heck of a time trying to collect them all, in fact it would be impossible. taking personal property is something that citizens should not allow their government to do.
