Hey everyone! I'm genuinely curious how much $ everyone spends on ammo during each range session. Personally, I try to keep it around $40 in ammo costs by shooting mostly 22, 7.62x39,7.62x54, and then only a few shots each of the more costly calibers. I know there will be some small spenders and big spenders out there so feel free enlighten me about your ammo costs per range day; it will be interesting to see the diversity or similarities between everyone :)! Happy shooting

Averaging 300 9mm a week, sometimes closer to 500.

I shoot a match once a week.

308 used to be 100 round of reloaded match grade ammo

223 100-200 rounds either factory or reloads a month unless I'm shooting a match.

I usually go through 200 rounds of 22 pistol, 400 rounds of 22 for 2 bolt action rifles all at about 8 cents a round. ($48) If I have the time and feel like cleaning up after a range trip I will go through about a hundred or so rounds of 7.62x39 at 20 cents a round. I shoot clays on the berm so that is usually 1/2 a box at $14 a box on sale at TSC.
Paper targets I print up myself but I do you the small splash type targets for fun. As well we can use soft plastic targets on the berm so I bought 25 of the soft coloured soccer cones for $25 at CTC. You can shoot them till they fall apart and last a while while giving good fun.
I did a cost benefit analysis when I got back into shooting and 22 pistol/rifle and 7.69 SKS had the sweet spot for ongoing costs.
As they say "Any day at the range is a good day!" So I don't usually worry about the cost each trip and by ammunition in bulk when it is on sale, like the 10% off sales at SFRC and other sponsors.

Depends on the trip, location, and who goes with me.

I usually bring a bolt and semi-auto in the same caliber. (Most times I bring a .22LR with a bulk pack just for fun as well.) I find it breaks up the trip and I have fun shooting both. Also gives the semis time to cool down a bit. Also helps with teaching family/friends in my experience.

I usually bring about 200 - 300 rounds for the main caliber of the day, up to 308. If testing or sighting in a rifle I'll bring anywhere from 20 - 60 rounds of that caliber as well. This works out well for 1 - 3 people as it seems to take longer to shoot the same amount when people join me.

If pistol shooting I bring 2 or 3 firearms, .22LR, 9mm, and .45ACP. A bulk box of .22LR and about 200 - 300 rounds combined total of which ever calibers I brought that day.

Normal range trip alone.

100 rounds of 9mm
300 rounds of .22LR

Total around $50 or so. Sometimes I shoot more 9mm but I normally dont shoot alot.

I go to the range every 3 weeks or so.

Average.........

200 - .45ACP
200 - 9mm
300 Battlepack 7.62x39
25 12ga Slugs
25 Birdshot
60 .223

22's aren't seeing much use lately , same goes for my 7.62x54R guns.

Try to get out at least once a month.

If the firing line is nearly empty or I'm the only person on it I'll spend a good 30 minutes walking around picking up once fired brass left by RCMP/VPD/ERT/ect and add it to my big piles at home.

How do we know this isn't someone's wife ? Whip up an account and pry out our secrets? It costs nothing to go to the range. I'm pretty good and picked up some sponsors. Actually I come out ahead a bit so I can bring her flowers from time to time. And I only go after the yard work is done.

That's why im only saying $50 lol. Flowers? Too cliche and passé, Just give her a good ole tongue lash if if ya know what i mean :p :adult: and mow the lawn later. Win win.

But in the event it really is someone else's wife, one dollar bob.

Make sure you have that reply handy the next time someone starts a thread wondering about the value of a certain firearm.

Average?

2-300 .22 = $15 - $23
100 9mm = $30
100 .45 = $40 (ish)
100 .40 = $34
Total range cost = $127 (not including Timmies, fuel and range membership)
That's just me. I often bring my kids and they shoot almost as much so some times it's double this..
Sometimes I bring my .308 RFB and put $50 through it.
I buy in bulk and shop for deals wherever I can

Generally out at least four times a month now that the Weather isn't total $h!t3 out here...

.22LR ~100 to 200 rounds so about $20.
7.62x39 ~100 rounds but it's from a crate of surplus so that's about $30 worth.

Average between $80 and $120 per trip.
Even if just .22, i've shot 800 rounds in an afternoon.
9mm is usually 300-400 rounds.
.223 or 7.62 is a couple hundred rounds.

May as well make it worthwhile.
