spent primers all over the place using Lee Turret press

I am reloading in my dining/Living room and primers are spitting out all over the place. Unless I am really stupid, which may be the case, I cant figure out why. There is no tube or anything to catch them. There is just a port where they spit out the side of the piston. It hits the primer arm assembly and bounces out a port sliced in the piston that moves up.

Ok, I re-read the OP's post. Does the primer arm swing in and out of the ram as you raise and lower the ram? The primer arm could be binding in its slot so that it remains in the upright position.

I assume you are able to deprime and insert a fresh primer. You can still do this with a primer arm stuck in the vertical, in which case, as you de-prime, the spent primer then falls on the primer arm and out the ram's slot.

Make sure the primer arm is free to swing in and out of the slot. When the ram is at the bottom of its stroke (operating handle is at the top), the primer cup should be inside the ram in order to seat a new primer. As you raise the ram, the primer arm will swing out, so you can easily insert a fresh primer onto the primer cup. At the top of the ram's stroke (the operating handle is at the bottom of its stroke), the old primer will be pushed out and fall into the hole in the center of the ram, into the clear plastic tube at the bottom of the ram.

As you lower the ram, the primer cup will be cammed into the vertical position to seat the primer.

If your de-priming pin is extended a little too far, the primer will bounce out with a little "ping" - it should only protrude enough - about 3/16".
 
I drilled a hole 90 deg from the original so the ejecter slot is pointed to the left. I don't loose anymore spent primer's.
I also prime off the press.

Thanks but no clear plastic tube, it shhots out the side of the ram. I think I will just do what Zuke did and put a piece of flashing along the side. Thanks everyone

Just out of curiosity why do you prime off the press. Is there a tool that I can buy to deprime off the press. I know I can get the priming tool. What I would like to do is de-prime, then clean the primer pocket with the little tool and lastly ultrasonic clean as all that can be done while watching TV. Then when I sit down to load, it is just loading.
I have to break out my stuff and put it away each time, I would rather just get it out once and reload.

I use a LEE universal decapping die to punch out the spent primer's,tumble in Stainless Steel media,resize and clean off, then prime with a Lee priming tool.
I then assemble my ammo when I want.

this is SOMETHING NEW-the old presses have a half-moon hole just where you dirlled your hole, and lee provided a template ( maybe still does - it's in the instruction manual) for mounting the plate with 2 1/2 inch holes that line up with the holes in the base; you then put some kind of recepticle ( like a cup) to catch the primers

That work's after the primer's make it into the base of the unit.
I drilled a 1 inch hole under my press and used a clear 1 inch tube to send all my spent primer's into a 1 gallon pail.
I punch out the spent primer's first then tumble them in my SS media set up.
