up or down( i favor pointing up), they should all be pointing in the same direction to avoid a meeting with Murphy

The reason for both directions is fro 2 different types of ammo. For easy identification.

For two differeent types of ammo, even if you switch the up and down, why wouldnt you put them together, like 3 pointing up, then three down.

Bet you can't with the back two shells pointing up and in the way of your left hand trigger finger.

I guess you never injured your right hand and needed your shotgun ...
