Spike bulls -

We got two spike bulls on the second and third day of the SK general elk season. There is no antler restriction here and we generally prefer to take spikes. Yummy!
 
I have a spike that has been hanging out in a swamp just in front of my cabin. Been there for a few weeks now but I'm willing to bet that opening day he's no where to be seen :(
 
My mistake. For SK bull moose season, any antler is good enough, just like elk. Don't normally see spikes here, 1.5 year old bulls usually have small forked antlers.
 
Yup, the majority of yearling bull moose have a small fork, thus the BC gov't calls 'em spike-fork bulls/immature bulls. I did pop a spike one year tho'...

Always, deer can read the regs.

I had an antlerless tag in a 4 point buck LEH. So at noon nothings doing so we go grouse hunting.

Walking back to the truck my buddy says "There's a deer standing by the tailgate of your truck.".

Me "Yeah right, fcuk off.".

Him "No really.".

Sure enough there's a deer behind my truck so I slip a slug into my SG and move forward for a better look.

Of course it's a spike mule buck.

He let me get to within 30 metres before he took off.

i parked in a cutblock one time and climbed a nearby hill to sit and watch, had a bull moose come out of the trees and stand about 15 feet behind the tailgate. of course, no moose tag.
