Spirit Bears

Sorry guys, I can't think of the words to fit NGO, which obviously means some type of anti hunting group(s).
I am thinking sheephunter saying the BC Wildlife Federation was NGO, was just an attempt to get somebody going.
OK, I'll bite! The BCWF is the best friend and protector of hunting rights we have in BC.

Not attempting anything.......NGO does not refer to an anti hunting group as it was being used. I'm a big BCWF supporter and hated to see it lumped with other NGOs whoes motives may not be as admirable.

... and we are so superior how? It's not like we don't have our fair share of "people" that legally hunt/fish species to near extinction. Ever see how many nets go accross the Fraser River when there is a run? It's a wonder any fish make it up to spawn.

Yup, i've seen the disadvantaged fishing people with those nets going all the way accross the Fraser upstream from hope. I was shocked.

The last legally shot Kermode was shot in the 50's under a specal permit for scientific research. They have been protected for a long time.

Gatehouse, I would be more worried about blonde, real blondes, then redheads. Apparently, the last true blonde is supposed to die in scandinavia in about 200 years! Better get on that!!

Sorry sheephunter, I just didn't know what the letters meant. Glad to hear you too, are a supporter of the BCWF.

They're not really their own gene pool. All black bears carry the gene. It's just not dominant.

It's like red hair in humans. Huge numbers of people carry the gene for red hair, but it's a recessive gene. As a rule - the only way to 'guarantee' red hair is to have two red hair'd people have a baby. Even then it's not sure.

So we don't hunt 'em, or else they'd be an even more rare colour phase. Just like if you shot all the red hair'd folks, even tho once in a while you'd still have the odd red hair'd baby it would be very very rare.

Yep, makes sense to me.

Some of guys I work with took a picture of a White Moose Cow last year and guess what ? her two calves didnt' have a speck of white, they will carry the gene and so and so forth.

Of course, the Americans will shoot everything to extinction if you let them. It is all about the individual there.

Canadian's do the same thing. Take Ontario turkey as an example of human greed. The Ontario turkey was hunted to extinction by Canadians no less . This vice is NOT a geographic thing. I do NOT consider individual rights something to sneer at. The U.S happens to have many great game conservation organizations including Ducks Unlimited, & NWTF to name a few.

There were 0 wild turkeys in Ontario until the mid-80's when the MNR and the OFAH started the wild turkey reintroduction program. Quite an amazing conservation success story.
