Sponsored shooters..

NEWS update...General Motors sold more cars in China than they did in the US last year. There really are some dated opinions on China.

For arguments sake lets say a Norinco representative comes over from China and offers $100K a year to five shooters who have posted on this thread the opportunity to shoot for Team Norinco. Who among the posters would decline the offer?

Take Care

Bob

Remember where that match was held..........I doubt that they were volunteers.
They had to use sandbags becoz it was a UIT range so the bullet catchers were not strong enough to stop bullets used in IPSC. IIRC the bags were filled by the Chinese Army but they were paid to do so.

who is shooting IPSC in China? I mean are they military/police or just regular citizens?
That was the first L3 match ever in China so the shooters were all from HK, Macau and Taiwan. It was also a demo match for Chinese officials. My friends told me there were guys there from all branches of the Chinese Military, the Chinese Police and the Chinese CIA, FBI, NSA, DEA etc.

It was really funny becoz they mostly followed Vinny around becoz he was the only Westerner, but he was also the only guy without a gun. He really made us laugh when he started singing "Me and my shadows".

At the end of the match, Vinny got the Minister of Tourism and the Minister of Sport and the CIA guy to shoot some poppers and you could tell they had so much fun.

.

I hope IPSC in China will be available to all, not only special interest groups.
Myself I understand how powerful is China, but also recognize the fact that there is not so much freedom like in Western countries.

Isn't that against IPSC constitution?

Practical competition is open to all reputable persons without regard to occupation, it may specifically not be limited to public servants.

Sigh, can we not have this degenerate into yet another Vince bashing thread, or Communist China thread, or ISPC squabbling thread? seriously guys move on.

I don't think anyone is bashing Vince.
Actually I would even see allowing people of China shoot IPSC as a good step, however there is a catch. If there is only access to military and police, special forces and so on, then I think IPSC should take a another look at who becomes a member.
I don't think this is what Jeff Cooper in-visioned?
Maybe I am old fashion prick and can't see the progress....

It is not only about China. Unless information publised at ipsc.or is not accurate, out of 87 regions listed on ipsc.org only 53 had some level III matches. What about other 34 regions?

Sponsored Shooter..... cough, cough, original post..... cough, cough.

When I heard sponsored shooter, the first thing that came to mind was a guy being a shooting addicts sponsor to keep him on the wagon, like AA of something :).

Thanks for coming back on topic.
Euxx, please start your own thread on your subject of choice

As of 1996 China Region was a full voting member of IPSC.
