Spooky Marine Magnum

Not too good at dis-assembling stuff?

This is what you want.

IF All Else Fails: Read Directions Eh

Considering the USE that you have chosen for your Rem 870 you should be able to disassemble and reassemble it. The Rem 870 is relatively easy to do eh. A manual for any shotgun you own and in the case of grizzly bear defense is your chosen use should be one you can disassemble, In the wild "#### happens" as per falling over a log into brush piles or into muddy water or whatever Mother Nature serves up. After all thats why your Marine Magnum is finished in electroless nickel..so you can have it lying in water and pick it up and it will still work.
Mass produced firearms may have some minor fitting problem that doesnt show up until you use it or just require some adjustment. Manuals usually have a diagnostic section which in many instances will simply state to replace an apparently defective part. Also parts will break and will need replacement. I have fired 1000s of shots from an early Remington 870 Wingmaster which 40 years ago Holman and Hickey did some smoothing and fucntion tests for me. At that time they were the gunsmiths for the Toronto Police.

Racked either slow or fast or inbetween your firearm should always work. In reading your original post I noticed you have only put 100 rounds or so through your shotgun. I would recommend getting some skeet loads and a hand trap and USING Your Marine Magnum so you get handy with it.

Train hard; fight easy..UNDER Pressure You Will DO As You Have Practiced. IF you dont practice your performance when that grizzly is charging or is up close and personal will FLOW accordingly.

Also practice especially by PATTERNING your firearm at different ranges will let you know what exactly it will DO...with slugs or different size shot.

Points noted ...

Good advice ... all of it ... it's all occurred to me but I just have to get past the anxiety of dis-assembling stuff that I may later be unable to re-assemble. Personal history has proven this to be a common and embarrassing/annoying occurrence ... but hey, it's not life-threatening, right?

I'm just lookin' for a good gunsmith / hobbyist to do a good job.

Video?

Remote ranch = dial-up Internet = no YouTube ... but the views and fishing are awesome.

Life is a series of trade-offs, eh?

Just gave the cased and trigger-locked firearm (and key and registration) to a properly-licenced friend who has a friend who knows a good gunsmith in Lethbridge.

Update to come ... many thanks to all who offered suggestions ...

Replace it with an HP9-1. :D

For defense guns anything less than 100% reliable is not acceptable.

Yeah and 3 shells later the front bead falls off, 200 Shells Later the Ejector Spring Shatters and then 100rds later the action bars bends, No thanks...

Not a gun I would use to protect myself...
