Hello all!

I am now a proud owner of a Smith and Wesson Sport 2 and is my first entry in the world of AR-15s and I got a question. I am a tall gentlemen (6ft 4 300 lbs) with a large wing span and I have interest in replacing the current hand guard for a full length guard so i can place my hand farther down the barrel. Is this reasonably possible without massive work or do i have to replace the upper or barrel? Any experiences or opinions would be awesome and apprenticed!

Thanks Mike

I put a 15 inches freefloat on my 16 barrel bushmaster pretty easily.

You'll need to grind the front sight gaz block or change it for a low profile. And just get a new handguard/barrel nut combo. If you're doing it yourself you'll need an AR wrench and torque wrench, and a clamp/block to hold the receiver in a vise.

It's not hard and you only need to change the gaz block, handguard and nut, but if you try and do it with the wrong tools, you might/will mess up stuff.

The Magpul Slim line hand guard adds a couple of inches and protects your hand from a hot gas block.

I have seen that extended hand guard and am interested. I saw true north had them, but are sold out any know any other dealers that have them in stock in the Ontario area? Thanks for the feed back!

I have that Magpul SL handguard on mine, and it's a dream. More room for the hand, and has aluminum on the inside protecting you from the heat.

If it were me, I'd be removing the sight tower, putting on a low profile gas block, and free floating that handguard.
TNA has some decent affordable mlok handguards if worried about price.
