I currently own a sporterized 1917. I was wondering if someone on this forum could provide me with info regarding suitable bases that I could use to replace my existing Weaver 2 piece set up.

Does Ruger or Millet offer a one piece mount for this configuration? I Don't even know what the action would comparable to

........a Win mod 70 (ish)?
........Mauser small ring?
........Mauser large ring?

Or is it unique unto itself?

I used to own one that had been sporterized by BSA.

Luckily I had friends that owned a gunstore that allowed me to literally try every mount they had in stock. The only one that ended up fitting was a Win 70, Redfield Jr. one piece base.

Yours may be slightly different due to the fact they ground the rear sight ears off each rifle. I don't know if there are minor variances between each rifle.

Good luck!

Once you figured out which base will fit, you have to drill the holes ... Good luck, the steel in those bad boys was hardened extra durable. You will have a sonova##### of a job to get good holes to work with.

IIRC, I used #11 Weaver bases for mine. But for the rear base it depends how the rear bridge has been shaped after milling off the sight ears. As for drilling the holes, I farmed that part out to my gunsmith  He may have grind off the surface hardening on the front ring where the holes go before drilling. If you have the proper tools, you can do it yourself though.
