Sporterized lee enfield - worth anything or hard to give away? pics included

Is that a No.4? I’ve actually been wanting a sporterized one for a scout rifle project. Looks like an original rear sight could be reinstalled.

If you’re interested in getting rid of it give me shout, although I’m sure you’ve received some private offers already.

I have been thinking of the same thing

good scope mount, mag, cut wood and barrel

$200 is about right.

oh and it's a No4 Mk 1/2. upgraded MkI to the Mk2

Last part is significant - avoids the whole mess with chipping or peenings at the Mk1* or Mk1/3 slot for bolt removal, and lets the trigger be set up with the action out of the stock - not so with a original Mk1 or Mk1*. But only important if you care about that stuff, I guess...

Your pictures that show front end of barrel - I think there are two screw blanks, a bit proud? If so, a sporter style ramp front sight used to live there and could be replaced.

Down side is that scoped No. 4's either had a cheek piece added (see "T" sniper rifles) or a sporter style butt stock (see Envoy) or you have to be like german, russian, finn sniper and get used to "chin weld", instead of cheek weld.

There's someone in the EE with a WTB advert for that scope mount. You'd probably still get at least $150 for the rifle without the mount if the bore looks good.

I'd do $150.00 for it ...the scope mount is $40.00ish...and parts are only going to get harder to find...It's a MK1, which is better then a MK1/2 or 2 ...because of the side button for the bolt release...not like the notch rail on a LE Mk2 or 2/3 etc.., that will sometime get chipped...making it hard to close the bolt quickly for a follow up shot...It looks like it was a Parker Hale..or a factory sporter at one time...with the two screw front sight base(holes drilled..looks like) and if the barrel is good..? Is it a 2 or 5 groove barrel? It a Surrey barrel...so could be a 5 groove. I have one, shoots great. And if your looking for a project...it would be great in , 444 marlin...45 acp (for a light shooter).
Keep it or pedal it...It's a LE that has not been bubba too bad yet!
Cheers

I have one that was "found in shed dead" by a neighbour that I got working again after cleaning out the sewer-pipe bore and other rust and gack.. Still shoots okay. I'm going to offer him $150 to keep it.

There is a forum member who taught himself how to do the proper Deslisle conversion process on #1 Mk3*. I would love to have one but they are worth probably five k. or more done properly but with a dummy silencer of course. Even with the dummy supressor it probably would be more shootable than a custom .338 Lapua or something like that.
