We spent five weeks visiting and touring in Great Britain this fall. While there, I got an invite from a relative to try sporting clays. It's a place in southern England called Lady's Wood Shooting School.

Yours truly on the left and my partner Andrew.

Duncan our instructor in the main room of the facility.

Taking my 'kick at the cat'.

I've done a minimal amount of trap shooting here, usually just prior to bird season, just to sharpen up a bit. It was my first time on sporting clays. The only thing that was a bit of a disappointment was the firearms used. We were using Beretta OU but considering where this took place, ;)English SxS's would've been the icing on the cake:).

looks beautiful - do you have any more pictures of the grounds? BTW, Williams Lake will be hosting BC's second annual Provincial Sporting Clays Championships in August. Hope you can make it out there and see how we do sporting clays here in Canada :)

PM me your e-mail address and I'll send the others I have. By the way, I used to live north of you at Wells and my son presently lives east of you at Horsefly.

Now you're ahead of me. I bought all of the equipment, but still haven't shot clays yet. Hopefully a GTA range takes on new members this year.

I'm not near Williams Lake. I'm in Calgary. I was just passing on info about a great upcoming Sporting Clays opportunity that isn't too far from you. I know most of the guys that will end up shooting at Williams Lake and I'm sure you will enjoy the experience and the company. I will be shooting at Kamloops in June. They have a big 3-day event starting June 20. The Friday's events include a sub-gauge competition.

How are you hearing about all the Sporting shoots. I have been waiting for the 2014 schedule.

Any chance you could post some of the larger shoot locations and dates ? Fed 400, Provincials, Nationals, etc. Any new clubs throwing registered ?

The shoot calendar should get posted at www.cnsca.ca soon. The calendar was sent to the webmaster last week. But off the top of my head:
The Fed 400 will held at Beaverhill May 24/25
Lethbridge will be throwing registered targets this year on May 31-June1
The Western Canadian Challenge will be held in Kamloops June 20-22
The ALberta Provincials will be held at Silver willow aug 23/24
The BC Provincials will be held at William Lake Aug 22-24
THe Sask Provincials will be held at the Rasmussen farm on July 26
We are almost set (but nothing signed off on yet) a Nationals at Hanley, Aug 1-3

Did I miss anything?

OP, as for sporting clays close to home for you, there's a few clubs on the Island that shoot recreational sporting clays. I've shot at Qualicum, Courtenay, and Gold River. Come on out some time. It's fun on a bun!
