Most people say go with Beretta or Browning but what are some other options to keep an eye out for or models that are good. I mostly do trap and sporting

Specify a budget, new clays guns start at around $1500 but can go for $20000 or more. And how many rounds will you fire in a year? For high volume shooting , don't bother with the low end shotguns, they won't stand up.

I think it really depends on what you want to spend
Not only price, but what fits and comes up to the shoulder best is probably the most important factor.

When the wife and I were looking for a reasonable O/U we tried a whole bunch of different makes / models till we found a reasonably priced option that worked for both of us. The biggest issue being she shoots right and I shoot left.

We ended up with a Belgian made Winchester 101 Field.

If you do decide to get a made in turkey shotgun make sure the brand you choose has warranty support. A brand like Canuck and hunt group for example
Don’t ask me how I know….

Buy a Browning or Beretta and never have to worry about warranty support. Many will say that if a Browning fits you, a Beretta won't and vise versa. My thoughts are that if you are new to over and under shotguns you will adapt to whatever you buy over time.

Thats a pretty good way to put it I found Browning mounts better then Beretta. So just find one that I like and go for it

It's all about fit. The new browning don't fit me at all. The Berettas fit a little better. But the older Browning's fit me really well. So I bi out an older browning citori

There's a nice used Citori CXT (( T =trap )) sittin on The Gun Dealers site right now. Says good condition...it's got the adjustable comb....ported bbls...On for 2 G's if you're lookin

So if the gun has an adjustable cheek riser and length of pull can be adjusted can't it technically be made to fit anyone?

Or not? Honest question.

For me,the pitch ( angle of the butt plate ) has been the biggest factor between Beretta and Browning. Most Brownings ( Citori's,BSS's,semi's ) have always fit me well out of the box.Beretta's ( 682's,Perennia's,Unicos ) all required a pitch change at a gunsmith ( Jason Spencer ).Others have had the opposite experience. The adjustable combs were unnecessary for me with both brands,as I would just bottom the comb out flush with the stock.

The best option is to shoulder both brands, and others,to find which fits the best for you.

That sounds sensible. Problem for me is that I don't believe there is anywhere nearby where I can try some of these. I am thinking of heading to Vancouver for a trip so maybe I could make visiting a gun shop and trying some out a part of it.
