Hi,

I am relatively new to shooting trap and it has come down to two shotguns: Citori 725 Trap or Citori 725 Sporting.

One has a 70:30 POI, the other more of a 50:50.

I have been using a Browning Maxus Sporting with a POI of 50:50 for this past year.

Any suggestions on which of the Citori's would be better?

... or do I stick with my semi auto?

Cheers,

Stephen

If you want to shoot just trap then buy the trap gun. If you want to shoot sporting too then buy the sporting gun. You can shoot trap with a sporting gun but a purpose built trap gun doesn't work that well the other way around.

Agreed....

I have a 725 trap that I bought when I was exlusively shooting trap. I've now expanded into skeet and sporting clays. What's said above is true, it's much easier to shoot everything with a sporting gun, but it's not exactly a dealbreaker. I would suggest giving sporting clays and even skeet a try before you make a decision, you might decide you're sticking with trap and if that's the case the 725 Trap is an excellent gun for that.

725 Trap owner/shooter here, and I agree with everything said above.
Also, my gun has a Gracoil Pad Plate adjuster (canted left), which does not lend itself well to a low-mount start.

Thank you all for the advice. I’m going to try some skeet this coming Thursday. Sporting clays might have to wait a few weeks until I get some free weekends.
