I just got a Remington, Sportsman 58 12 gauge shotgun and I'm looking for some information on it

About all I can tell you about it is that back in the late 1960s I used one for awhile.Good working shotgun ,no problems.

The Sportsman 58 was the forerunner to the model 1100. Many of the parts like the extractors etc. will interchange. I have an old well-used one for sale cheap if anyone is interested.

The Rem. Model 58 was made from1956 to 1963. It was produced in 3 or 4 versions. The calibers were 12 , 16 & 20. There were about 271,000 produced.

What do you guys recommend I do about the stalk, I would like to take those marks out of it but not sure if I should or not, or how to go about doing it?

I found this site on how to take it apart, took some time to figure out what the guy was talking about but it worked if anyone wants to know how to take this gun apart lol

I thought someone once told me that you can use Remington 870 barrels on the 58 if you have a gunsmith drill the gas holes for you.

Can anyone confirm this?
