So now why would the brass do that.
I had shined them up in the tumbler for a few hours and all of the cases were fine then, after they were done I put them back in their boxs about amonth ago and haven't removed them untill today when I wanted to reload them, I noticed they all developed spots:confused:
The brass is Federal 270 wsm fired four times and have been anneiled after three
The spots are dark or a lite black. is this a sign that it is time to replace or a sign that they just need to go back into the tumbler again, I did 20 of the same make and caliber at the same time and those ones are fine.
I did manage to get a picture but it aint all that great

yea.. it is most likely corrosion, i get that on my cases if i only tumble them in treated media.. i think the treatment on the corncob causes them to tarnish/corrode rather quickly. if you use untreated corncob it seems to not happen.. i haven't tried untreated nutshell.. but i would if i found it...

something else i heard was that red winter wheat makes good case media

Like the others said..it looks like tarnish, but hard to tell from the photos.

I do see a pattern on the cases. It would appear that the tarnish is from finger prints....you have oil and salt in the pores on your fingers. I too have a very acidic sebum on my fingers..anything brass turns black with me.

Wear a cheap pair of cotton gloves next time you handle the cases and it should solve the problem
