Spotting scope choices

Rather than estimate range with a spotting scope, I prefer to use a laser rangefinder, which is a much more accurate tool, for that application. It is also much more compact, and much quicker to range with, than having to set up, and dial in a spotting scope.

I agree a rangefinder is more accurate. I also like to know how to use my reticle as well as rangefinders can malfunction, batteries die etc. I guess its no different than being dependant on a GPS without knowing how to use a map and compass. I have also shot in competitions as well where a rangefinder was not allowed. To each his own though.

wait it out save your money and buy the swarovski 65 unless you have hunters in the family you can wrap up the mistakes for

I bought a Konus 20-60x 100mm scope. It is dirt cheap for the quality but it is no Swaro. Gathers light really well and it is pretty sharp but man is it ever bulky especially being 100mm!! You need a heavy tripod with it and once you find one that is heavy enough, get one that is heavier cause the darn thing won't stay still.

Seriously though, good scope for the price but I do sorta wish I'd saved my coins for a Swaro.

One day when I go on some kind of western or mountain hunt I will sell this and get the Swaro that Omer was referring to. Really can't beat their optics.
